Basic Trace
This is probably the most common trace user by pike anglers. It can be used when legering or float fishing aswell as sink and draw.
Basic Leger Rig (running leger)
This must be the most commonly use rig for pike fishing, it gives the least amount of resistance to the pike when it takes the bait. Reducing the risk of shy pike dropping the bait before you can strike.
Uptrace Rig
This rig can be used if float legering or using a sunk float, it is particularly important to use it if you are using pop up baits. So that if the pike happens to get your line in its mouth at the same time as the bait, it cannot bite you off, which would result in the pike swallowing the bait and trace and most likely a dead pike. You should use a top quality wire for the uptrace as 7 strand wire will coil badly after a fish has run, I use a multi strand wire, it may cost a little more but lasts o lot longer.
I use the tulip bead for the ring to rest, this protects the wire twist of the uptrace or nylon knot on the running leger. I put some silicon tube over the wire and first eye of the top swivel to help the ring to pass over the swivel when the pike runs with the bait.
