What we are all about!!!

Hi all! I hope that you like the cover picture. It was taken by my daughter Vicky on a recent trip on a Yorkshire river and shows the beautiful camouflage on one of our favourite fish. I will be using other photos in the future and if you have one that you would like me to include, please send me a copy (on email if possible but otherwise just send me a print and I will do the rest. If you don't send them I will just have to bore you with any which I have available!

Club meeting on 13th September.

The slide show organised and put together by Darron was a roaring success even though disappointingly, only 7 people turned up on the night! John and I were unable to go due to work commitments and one or two others possibly had the same problem but out of a total membership of 25, that is indeed a very poor turnout, especially as I have been mentioning this event for a number of months. I know that Darron put a lot of work into this event and I for one want to thank him on behalf of all members. I know that the people who were there thoroughly enjoyed the show and had a good laugh and those who missed it really did miss out. However, if you want a copy of the disk of pictures, Darron will be selling them on behalf of the club so you can still catch the show and he may do another next year. If you as members do not like what is being done on your behalf then please tell us. If however you are happy with the running of the club then please try to attend to support the efforts that are being made on your behalf.

Club trip 2006.

A final reminder about this event if you are interested in attending. It is quite possible that some of the lads from Wakefield PAC may also come with us but this has yet to be confirmed. I will be ringing to arrange the accommodation very shortly and will give full details at the next meeting so please attend if you are interested. As stated in the last newsletter in September, Darron can collect monies in advance if you wish to avoid laying it all out in one go. We could also discuss whether the club can subsidise the trip at the October meeting so if you have a view please be there.

Slide show 8th November

Our next guest speaker slide show is Eddie Turner At Coxhoe club on 8th November. A copy of the poster advertising this event is attached. Please take it to any outlet which you can display it in (especially tackle shops or angling clubs) and see if they will give us the publicity. If anyone wants more copies please ring me (the number is on the poster).

PAC issues.

A couple of things to mention on behalf of the national PAC. Please support their efforts to influence the debate in Scotland on the issue of a livebait ban and send the letter printed with the last copy of Pikelines. You may not think it has much to do with you, especially if you don't go to Scotland but please remember that there will shortly be fishery legislation being introduced for England and Wales and if this ban goes through in Scotland, it is very likely that it will be included in this further legislation too. It is absolutely essential that we show our support against this ban so send off your letter if you haven't already done so.

The PAC Convention is taking place at the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds on Saturday, 24th September 2005. I know that some of you are planning to go and I will be there as well so see you there. If anyone hasn't yet made up their minds, let me assure you that it will be a great day out and one not to miss. You will get the chance to talk to other members from all over the country and the PAC Committee will be there if you have any comments or issues to raise (for example anything you would like to see included in Pikelines).

Please also remember that national PAC subs are due on the 1st of October and send off your membership renewals.

Club Trips

Unfortunately the trip to Bassenthwaite had to be cancelled due to lack of interest but a late substitution of Market Weighton Canal was put in place at the last minute. I will report on the results in the next edition of this newsletter. Shane is still pulling together a list for trips for the rest of the winter and he will be discussing these ideas at the meeting in October so please come along and see what is planned. Full details of each trip will however be advertised in this newsletter.

New members

Just a line to welcome a couple of new members to both the national PAC and the region: Steve Coward and his son (also Stephen) from Houghton le Spring joined this month. Unfortunately Steve works away from home so they cannot join us for meetings or trips at the moment but is hoping that his shift patterns will be better next year. Welcome to you both!

Member's Gallery

Finally, a couple of recent pictures of member's catches. If you want to see your face in lights and show people what you have been catching recently, please send me copies.

Nice double for John recently. Shows he can still catch them sometimes! By the way, he did not have a snotty nose on the day, it is a mark on the photo (honest)!

Well that is all for now folks. Hope you like the new layout. Please let me have any comments (good or bad) and pictures for future editions!
